Athletes excelling in multiple sports bring an added level of athleticism to their teams. At Elk City High School, senior Cason Cobb positively impacts both the ECHS football and wrestling teams.

One of Cason’s best memories of high school sports is the state wrestling tournament. He says he made a lot of memories there with some of the best teammates he could ask for.

Football is the sport he credits with teaching him discipline. He says football also taught him that hard work pays off. Cason plays center and defensive end. “I just love the game of football,” he says.

Building relationships with teammates is his favorite part of being on a team. From the highs of victory to the lows of defeat, his team comes together like brothers. Braxton Robertson is the teammate leaving the biggest impact on Cason. “He would always push me to be my best and I would always push him to his best,” he said.

Cason enjoys representing the Elk City community as a student athlete. His favorite teacher is Mrs. Brimage, who teaches chemistry. She creates a positive classroom and is supportive of her students.

His dad, who convinced him to play football in the eighth grade, is Cason’s biggest motivator. “He is always in my corner and tells me what I can do to make myself better. Thank you to my entire family. They always show up for me no matter where my games or tournaments are at,” Cason said.

The pro athlete he looks up to is Olympic gold medalist and NCAA champion wrestler, Gable Steveson. If he could go anywhere on a vacation, Cason would go to Hawaii with his family. His all-time favorite meal is any Mexican food.

Cason is in FFA, Fellowship of Student Athletes and is a youth leader at his church. When asked the best advice he has ever received, Cason looks to the Bible, Psalms 73:26. “My heart and my flesh may fail but God is my strength and my portion forever.”
