If softball has taught Brenyn Ball one thing it is that you are going to mess up and it is important to do your best and move on. This is a valuable lesson young athletes like Brenyn, a junior at Elk City High School, learn while playing sports.

The best advice she has been given is that softball is a game of failure and error. “It is part of the game. There isn’t a game played where every single thing goes right. You are not going to be perfect, but you can always be better,” she says.

Brenyn is passionate about her sport. “It gives me an escape, it helps me to become a better person, and gives me a purpose. My favorite part about being on a team is that you are not only playing for yourself, but you are also playing for your teammates who become your friends and then your family,” she said.

Her favorite part about representing ECHS as an athlete is winning with her teammates.

There are so many best memories from softball it is difficult to narrow it down to just one. “I love all the memories with my teammates, the hotel stays, even the long car rides. Softball is a very easy sport to love,” Brenyn says.

Brenyn is inspired by many people. “I’m not sure if I could pick a teammate who has left the biggest impression on me because I learn something from every person I play with. I am fortunate to have always had the best teammates,” she said.

As a four-year-old, she was playing T-ball. Her dad’s encouragement to play softball helped make her the player she is now. She is thankful to her entire family, “I wouldn’t be the athlete or person I am today without every single one of them. I am very blessed to have a huge family and even more blessed to be very close with all of them,” she said.

Brenyn’s favorite teacher was her eighth grade US history teacher who helped his students see from different perspectives. Brenyn says they learned to put themselves in other people’s shoes.

Brenyn is active in multiple sports. She also plays basketball and is on the track team for ECHS.
