Golf has always been part of Meghan Suter’s life. She began playing golf as a young girl with her dad. Those early years had a significant impact on her future as a golfer for Elk City High School.
Meghan is only a sophomore, so she has several more years to grow in her sport. She dreams of competing in the state tournament as an individual. Playing with her team in the state tournament last year is the best memory she has made in her golf career so far.
She loves golfing with her team. “My favorite part of golf is the team. I love our team because we support each other so well and encourage each other to not play for ourselves but for Jesus,” she says.
The teammate who leaves the biggest impression on her is Erin Womack. “She strives to be the best she can all the time and even when she isn’t having the best day, she still puts a smile on her face,” says Meghan.
Representing ECHS as a golfer is her chance to spread kindness to people on the course. This is what makes her most proud as a student-athlete. The most valuable skill Meghan has learned from golf is to be patient. “I have a better mindset since I started playing,” she says, “don’t give up when something goes wrong.”
Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Brimmage for being kind and being such a good teacher. Meghan is inspired by her dad. “He works hard at everything he does and pushes me to be the best I can be.” Meghan fondly remembers a family vacation to Alabama with her cousins. It may have been eight years ago, but she says they had the best time ever.
Meghan wants to say thank you to her parents and grandparents for their constant support in all her activities. In addition to golf, she also plays softball. After high school, Meghan plans to go to college and become an anesthesiologist.
