When Miranda Brasuell steps onto the tennis court, it’s not the crowd or the competition
that drives her most; it’s the balance between her love for the game and her dedication to
the classroom. A junior at Elk City High School, Miranda competes in singles, a challenge
that demands focus, resilience, and a quiet kind of confidence.

Last year, she and her teammates reached a milestone that blended their athletic and
academic strengths.

“Last year, our girls’ team won Academic All-State. I know all of us worked hard to do well
in tennis and in school, so actually receiving Academic All-State was super exciting,” she
said.

That recognition represents what Miranda values most: discipline and consistency,
whether in a match or a chemistry exam. Her first season as a singles player stretched her
mindset and tested her patience.

“Tennis, especially playing singles for the first time last year, has taught me to be more
disciplined and have more self-control on and off the court.”

She finds the same thoughtful encouragement in her favorite teacher, Mrs. Brimage, who
not only teaches biology and chemistry but also models compassion through attention.
Miranda admires how she sees each student’s effort, both inside and beyond the classroom.
Inspiration comes to Miranda from several corners of her world: her coach, her preacher’s
wife, and her former teammates who left lasting marks. Analiese reminded her that effort
matters more than results, while MacKinley Brewer, a graduated senior, shaped Miranda’s
sense of purpose.

“I admired the way she always gave every match her best and played for the glory of God,”
Miranda said. “She really took me under her wing when I needed it.”

Miranda’s favorite part of representing Elk City isn’t just competition, it’s pride.

“Being able to show up to tournaments and just give it my all; I have the privilege of
knowing that I am part of a team that is worth being proud of.”

Her mantra is simple but powerful.

“Move your feet,” she said, quoting coach Pat Senger’s advice.
It reflects how she lives, determined, grounded, and always in motion. And through every
tournament, she carries gratitude, especially for her mom, whose support never wavers.
