OUTLOOK
For head coach Tyler Foale and the Elk City Elks, growth and development remain the focus heading into the new season. After a challenging 2-21 campaign, the Elks return a determined group ready to compete at a higher level. “We are a young team that is still growing and learning how to play together,” said Foale. “We have a good group of hard workers that we hope will continue to make strides in the right direction.”
Leading the charge is Tucker Garza (5-10, G, Sr.), the Elks’ top returning scorer. Garza averaged 11 points per game last season and continues to impress with his athleticism and versatility. “He’s very athletic, strong, and a slasher that has improved his shooting,” Foale said. “He was our leading scorer last year before his injury. He has that ability to be really effective on both ends of the floor.”
The Elks’ backcourt is deep, featuring Krew Keyes (5-10, G, Jr.), who averaged 8 points per game last season, along with seniors Jeremiah Jackson (6-0, G, Sr.) and Evan Putman (5-8, G, Sr.) — both known for their defensive energy and ability to create plays. In the frontcourt, Kye Brott (6-1, F, Sr.) brings size and rebounding presence, while younger players such as Hadley Brown (6-1, G/F, So.), Boston Stover (5-11, F, So.), and Gavin Bradshaw (5-11, G, So.) provide valuable depth and athleticism.
The Elks will rely on speed and effort on defense to stay competitive in a tough slate of games. Kingston Dixon (6-0, G, So.) will play a key role on both ends of the floor. “He’s a strong guard that can score on all three levels,” said Foale. “He is a gym rat. We are very excited for him and what he can bring to the table. He is also a tremendous kid that is willing to help out in any way that he can. He will be a leader and cornerstone in the program for the next three years.”
Other contributors to watch include Cameron Nicholson (6-0, G, Jr.), Isaiah Lane (5-10, G, So.), Gus O’Hara (5-10, G, So.), Conley Poole (5-9, G, Jr.) — a hardworking group Foale said pushes each other every day.
With a blend of senior leadership and emerging young talent, the Elks are determined to turn experience into progress.
