Throughout each of our lives, we have people that have an impact on us and help shape us into the people that we will become. Collin Church has a few people like that in his life.
“My biggest role models are my dad and my brother,” he stated. “My dad is the hardest working man I’ve ever met and does things the right way. My brother is always positive to me and provides me with a positive attitude in life. A teacher that has influenced me was Mrs Thompson. She was a tough teacher and a tough class, but she taught me well and kept me accountable with school work.”

Church is a senior at Elk City High School, where he plays football and baseball. Outside of his sports, Collis is also involved in the National Honor Society, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Key Club, and serves on the senior class committee.

Being at his best when he competes is not something that happens overnight. It takes a process of work and dedication, something of which Collin is familiar with.

“It takes a lot of hard work,” he stated. “Whether it be early morning weights or late night hitting, that builds character and accountability that you can take with you into games.”

There have been a lot of moments during his career that Collin enjoys and have been special to him. But he has one that stands out as his favorite.

“The highlight moment has been making the state tournament three years in a row,” he said proudly.

Wearing the Elk City uniform is something that Church has looked forward to doing since he was younger. And now that he does, he does not take it for granted.

“It means a lot to represent my school,” he said. “I’ve grown up in Elk City, always looking up to the older guys. Now that it is my chance to set an example for Elk City and the kids, I take that seriously and try to do things right.”
