Elk City sophomore Brayden Duncan was proud of what he accomplished on the golf course this year.
“It was a good season with great teammates,” Duncan said. “Golf is a sport where you always wish you’d done a little better. So there is room to improve, but overall, I personally had a better season than last year.”
The Elks finished fourth overall as a team at the 2023 4A boys state golf championship as teammates Mason Schmidt and Nathan Womack both finished within the top 10.
Golf is all about patience, Duncan said.
“I’m also still learning to not focus on the last shot, but to look forward to the next,” Duncan said. “All areas could improve, but I’d really like to see improvement with my irons. . . My short game has definitely improved since last year but still has room to grow.”
Duncan plans to spend the offseason competing in individual tournaments while working on his game.
“I am thankful for the experience I have gotten as a freshman and sophomore,” Duncan said. “I do hope better years of golf are in the future. I am looking forward to what the next few years hold.”
Duncan’s relationship to his faith stands firmly at the center of his endeavors, golf or otherwise.
“I do really enjoy golf, but most of all want to use it as an avenue to glorify God,” Duncan said. “Lifting up God’s name is what I want my life to be known for.”
