As the 2024-25 basketball season kicks off coaches are closely watching and evaluating the up-and-coming players. Graham Easttom, a freshman at Elk City High School, stands out as an underclassman to watch.
ECHS basketball coach Tyler Foale says Graham is athletic and a strong guard. “He will be able to score and defend. He is a smart player who is extremely coachable. Graham will be a leader for this program in the future and will continue to get better,” said Foale.
Involvement in athletics taught Graham to be consistent in everyday routines and to never give up. Playing basketball, football and baseball requires dedication which Graham has. “I love competition and I put a lot of time and effort into being successful in my sport,” he says.
The advice Graham follows is “to always have confidence in yourself and your team, to always be positive and believe that good things will happen.”
His favorite basketball memory is when he played his first AAU game with his teammates. “Even though we lost I had a great time with them,” said Graham.
Graham’s teammates are his best friends and he loves competing with them. Catch Geno is a teammate he looks up to. “Catch is one of the toughest people I know yet one of the nicest. He is a senior this year and he has helped me so much this football season and not just with football. He is a great person and a great friend,” says Graham.
“My Dad inspires me because he has taught me so much about sports and life and I aspire to be like him when I’m older. My parents always support me in anything I do and put all their time and effort into traveling and helping me achieve my goals,” he said.
Graham proudly represents ECHS as a student-athlete. “Ever since I was young, I have always had a love for sports. My family all played sports and that made me want to play and then I fell in love with them too,” he says.
Now in high school, Graham embraces the opportunity to represent ECHS as a student-athlete. “Representing my school is about being a good sport and showing how well our coaches help us. Not only to be good athletes but more importantly good people.”
