Junior golfer Anna Price approaches every round at Elk City High School with a mindset built on encouragement and daily growth. “My main goal this season is to keep a positive attitude and to improve every day,” she said.
The Elkettes radiate team spirit like never before. “I feel that our team morale this year is better than ever, and we have all been very encouraging to each other,” Price said. That outlook has transformed their play. “Our biggest improvement this year has definitely been keeping a positive attitude whether we are having a good day or a bad day we always stay positive and just focus on our next shot,” she said.
State remains their ultimate target. “Our biggest goal this year is to make it to state, and I think we can achieve this if we stay consistent with practice and continue to work as hard as we can,” Price said. Faith and accountability bind them together. “The team’s biggest strength is maintaining a good attitude and we always hold each other accountable spiritually and honor God in everything we do,” she said.
Price fills an uplifting role on the squad. “The role I try to play is always keeping a good attitude and lifting others’spirits,” she said. New layouts test her patience. “When playing a new course, I always remind myself that it is new to me and that bad things are okay considering this is my first year on varsity and it will be challenging,” she said.
Her routine centers on preparation and perspective. “I always pray before every tournament that God puts his hand over me and that I keep a positive attitude,” Price said. “My favorite strategy when I’m playing is always quoting the Happy Gilmore movie ‘It’s all in the hips’. This always makes me smile.”
She hopes her energy defines her time at Elk City. “I want my legacy at ECHS to be that I always known to be positive and uplifting to my teammates and my class,” Price said.
Off the course, she leads. “I am the media secretary of the junior class and play a big role in the prom committee. After high school, I plan on attending SWOSU as an early childhood education major.”
