Leah Redd is the mother of two and a proud member of the Elk City community. She says that knowing that your kids are surrounded by people that are there for more than to just do their job is comforting for a parent.
“We love Elk City Schools,” she said. “The administrators, teachers and support staff are always encouraging. I have always said there is a place and friend for everyone at Elk. Elk City has an awesome community that supports the school system.”
Redd’s eldest son Chase is a 2018 graduate of Elk City. As a student, he played football and baseball and was also active in the FFA program. Blake is a senior this year and is a member of the football, basketball, and golf teams.
As a parent, Leah says that it is important to her to be able to be there for her kids at whatever they are doing.
“Staying involved with Chase and Blake’s lives is just showing up and supporting them,” she said. “It takes some effort the older they get with everyone going different directions but I want them to know that I’m their number one fan. As parents we feel prioritizing our kids’ activities teaches all of us hard work, grace, humility and to persevere.”
Throughout their kids’ involvement in athletics, Leah has stayed involved too.
“Ronnie and I are founding members of the Elk City Football Booster Club and the Elk City Baseball Booster Club,” she said. “We are active members of the football, basketball and golf booster clubs.”
When they are not out supporting their kids and their teams, Redd and her husband enjoy their own small adventures.
“In our free time, Ronnie and I like to fly to different places for dinner,” she said. “Ronnie earned his pilot license a couple of years ago so it makes it easy.”
Leah is a stay-at-home mom and she loves to spend time with her family. They have family golf days, which is a great way to spend time together. She also loves that they live close to their grandson Coulter.
